4074 and 4073 · Centenary suburbs
Jindalee was laid out as an estate, not as a row of nineteenth-century villas.
The State Library of Queensland’s place history says Jindalee was named in 1964, from an Aboriginal word said to mean “bare hills”, on land associated with the Sinnamon family and the Centenary Estates. The same article lists Jamboree Heights, Mount Ommaney, Westlake, Riverhills and Middle Park as the other suburbs from that development. The Centenary Bridge opened in 1964 and was duplicated in 1987. Jindalee State School opened in 1966.

Do not give Mount Ommaney Jindalee’s percentages
Australia Post’s 4074 result is Jamboree Heights, Jindalee, Middle Park, Mount Ommaney, Riverhills, Sumner, Westlake, and Sumner Park BC as a box category. Seventeen Mile Rocks and Sinnamon Park are 4073, a different code, even though Sinnamon is part of the local name. The worker treats 4073 and 4074 as in territory. It does not know which suburb inside the code you mean. The job details should say.
This page does not include a census extract for Mount Ommaney, Riverhills or the 4073 suburbs. Using Jindalee’s 95.6% separate-house figure for them would be the thin-page mistake this site is trying not to make.
Current barrier rules are not a history of a 1960s house
QBCC’s description of today’s Queensland variation — replenishable chemicals, a 50-year design life, a concrete mowing strip, a durable notice — is about the code as it applies now. A house started in the 1960s was not built under today’s edition of that code. Some have been extended, re-stumped or re-barriered since. Some may have a notice in the meter box and some may not.
The useful question for a Centenary house is: what, if anything, is there now — chemical, reticulation, mesh, graded stone, exposed slab edge, bait stations — and when was it installed? QBCC says owners should know which of those they have, because chemical systems have a limited life and physical systems still need inspection. Not knowing is a reason to hire a licensed inspector. It is not proof of activity.
The State Library notes Jindalee’s proximity to the Brisbane River. Proximity is not a flood level. Check the address in Council’s FloodWise report before you brief a contractor about a water-damaged subfloor. This site will not turn that into a termite-risk percentage.
